HCMPH Symposium 2024

We’re delighted to welcome everyone for the sixth annual Harvard Chan Microbiome in Public Health center symposium, which this year will be run in tandem with a partner Dana-Farber / Harvard Cancer Center workshop. Of the many health-relevant aspects of microbiome science, its role in cancer has become particularly critical. Not only is it one of the main factors in the success of breakthrough treatments such as immunotherapy, microbial chemistry can influence the effects of traditional chemotherapy; microbial profiles provide new routes for cancer biomarkers and early detection; and the specifics of microbial colonization can trigger, promote, or prevent cancer development. Our symposium program will include keynotes, invited talks, and selected presentations from poster submissions, and Harvard affiliates can join for a second day of hands-on details and training in microbiome population research. We collect a very nominal fee for in-person registration, with virtual attendance available for free. Refreshments and a poster presentation are offered on-site, and support for social media and interactive participation are provided for online attendees.

Poster Session:
We will have a hybrid poster session this year! Please submit abstracts by email to Nicole Levesque for consideration by April 15, 2024. From the submitted abstracts we will select 2 posters to give short talks at the symposium. There will be an interactive Slack workspace available for conference attendees and poster presenters throughout the day as well. You will be notified if your poster is accepted by April 29, 2024. For both in-person and virtual attendees, a PDF of your poster is required by May 6, 2024 for the Slack Workspace and Symposium website. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nicole.

Note on Abstracts: Please include poster title, all authors/affiliations, and abstract paragraph(s) in your submission. Please do not submit abstracts with tables, or final poster PDFs in place of an abstract. Abstracts may be submitted as word documents or PDFs.
